"sm70- why not Duesenberg?" (sm70-whynotduesenberg)

As I mentioned a few days ago, I decided the best solution to the problem of having an unreliable Audi as a daily driver was to daily drive an !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! instead. One of the only parts missing off this low mileage example is the front driver’s side wheel cover. The wheels are 14" wheels and look like this.
Those are plastic covers, and they hide black steelies underneath. Except on the driver’s front wheel, where there is no cover. We’ve talked about removing the other three covers and spraying or even plating the steelies a matte silver, as well as the possibility of just getting different wheels. I want to know if we can skip all that. I have been unable thus far to locate the correct wheel cover on any wheel & tire site, used car parts site (including eBay), or Alfa Romeo part specialist site. Does anyone think they can locate me a matching 14" wheel cover for a 1991 Alfa Romeo Spider base?

Using this as an opporunity to hate you because one of the formative moments in my car guy history was the time my dad has one of his coworkers over to work on a presentation and he pulled into the driveway and parked a red one of these next to my dad’s beige Taurus and I was like WAIT DADS CAN HAVE FUN CARS?!

Either that gen or previous there were some really nice looking steelies that you could get on a standard car. If it’s in the budget, those are much better looking than that pie plate.

One of my friend’s dads has a red Series 3.

You’re talking to a guy who had pie plates on his last car. I like pie plates.
I do like those wheels better, but I’d much rather spend $40 or even $80 on a new wheel cover or two than hundreds on new wheels.

I never liked those covers. Possibly someone could photoshop those wheels on. And hey - you never know - $200 bucks for a set from a junkyard? It could happen.

Here’s a handy list of other cars with the same bolt pattern:

Might I suggest Fox Body turbine wheels?

I’ve never taken a long look at a Spyder from that angle but...
I daresay the proportions are awfully reminiscent of a Cosmo!
Short front overhang, lonnnnnng rear overhang (comparatively), shorter and flatter rear arch compared to the front.

IMHO the no (low) cost option looks good.
But if i had to suggest something.

Hmmm. An interesting collection of mostly 80's machinery.

You went from an unreliable German to a likely less reliable Italian. That's awesome. Congrats!
